On 22^nd August 2024, the seminar on “Cambodia Securities, the First Capital Market Summit Forum”, hosted by Cambodia Securities Plc., was successfully held at SOKHA Phnom Penh Hotel & Residence in Phnom Penh, the capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia. This event marks another significant contribution by Cambodia Securities Plc., as one of the main promoters of the development of Cambodia's capital market.  

In recent years, the Royal Government of Cambodia has placed great importance on the development of the capital markets. The forum was officially presided by H.E. Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service of Cambodia, H.E. Dr. Vin Pheakdey, Deputy Director General of Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia and H.E. Hong Sok Hour, Royal Government Delegate in charge as Chief Executive Officer of Cambodia Securities Exchange, representing the Royal Government of Cambodia. The event brought together 500 participants, including international financial experts and investors from Singapore, China and Hong Kong, as well as Cambodia’s top 300 entrepreneurs, to discuss on the development and future of the Cambodian capital market from a global perspective. 

H.E. Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service of Cambodia, emphasized that the Royal Government of Cambodia has always placed great importance on the development of the capital and securities markets. The government's "Pentagon Strategy" aims to actively promote industrial diversification, enabling more enterprises to grow through the capital market and secure the necessary financial support. This is not only benefits for the development of enterprises but also lays a solid foundation for Cambodia’s economic growth. 

Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Cambodia Securities Plc., for hosting this professional forum in the capital market sector. He stated, "Cambodia Securities Plc., has not only promoted the development of the capital market but has also actively invited numerous internationally renowned foreign institutions to share the importance of corporate listings and connect with international funds to explore overseas markets. We hope that through these efforts, Cambodia can become an emerging financial center in Southeast Asia." 

H.E. Hong Sok Hour, Royal Government Delegate in charge as CEO of the Cambodia Securities Exchange (“CSX”), stated that Cambodia’s capital market will continue to develop to achieve the goal of helping Cambodian private enterprises raise billions of dollars in funds. 

He mentioned that Cambodia currently has 23 listed companies, with over USD400 Million raised from the CSX. The daily trading volume in the CSX has increased nearly 14 times, from USD20,000 per day in 2018 to USD300,000 per day in 2023. Additionally, 1,000 new trading accounts are opened daily in the CSX. 

He urged all stakeholders in the securities industry to pay attention to, understand, and participate in Cambodia’s securities market, and to promote the market to attract foreign investment and interest in Cambodia. 

Mr. Darren Teng, Managing Director of Cambodia Securities Plc., stated that "Based on the experience of mature securities markets, I have witnessed many changes in capital markets. With the reform of policies such as the tax system by the Cambodian government, it is foreseeable that Cambodia will experience a wave of listings within the next 3 years. These companies will bring new vitality and prosperity to the market and provide investors with substantial returns." 

He also announced that Cambodia Securities Plc., is about to launch Pre-IPO funds that will invest in local enterprises, helping them grow. These funds will not only provide financial support but also help enterprises establish strategic partnerships. 

Ms. Buth Kerady, CEO of Cambodia Securities Plc., delivered a keynote speech on "Cambodia’s Golden Decade" and she highlighted that Cambodia’s capital market is on the verge of a golden decade, with a wave of corporate listings on the horizon. She emphasized that Cambodia Securities Plc., will spare no effort in promoting the development of Cambodia’s capital market. As a key promoter of the capital market, Cambodia Securities Plc., holds comprehensive licenses to help enterprises/companies navigate this critical stage, meet listing requirements, and seamlessly connect with emerging international markets. Additionally, experts from top international capital market institutions, including China Cinda, one of China's top four asset management companies, Singapore Global Trust Pte. Ltd. , First Capital Global Management , and global investment banks, not only shared their professional insights on the capital market but also engaged in in-depth discussions with local investors and entrepreneurs. They explored the path to listing for Cambodian enterprises, helping more companies understand the development of the capital market and identify future opportunities. This encourages more Cambodian enterprises to seize the upcoming wave of listings, thereby promoting the development of Cambodia’s national economy and contributing to regional economic growth. 

It was revealed that Cambodia Securities Plc., will also establish an evaluation of Cambodia’s top 100 companies and continue to hold capital market summit forums. These forums aim to further integrate Cambodia’s capital market with international markets and provide professional guidance and support for Cambodian enterprises seeking to go public.
