Cambodia Securities Plc Holds Grand Opening
Cambodi Securities Plc.

This important event marked the beginning of the development of Cambodia’s capital market and demonstrated strong confidence in the sector, reflecting a commitment to strengthening cooperation with other countries. The ceremony also attracted significant interest from investment banks and brokerage firms across Asia, including major international family offices, Deutsche Bank, and Goldman Sachs, with nearly 500 participants in total. It was one of the largest gatherings Cambodia has seen in many years, highlighting growing interest in Cambodia’s economy and capital market and potentially triggering a new wave of corporate listings, with Cambodia Securities playing a key role in driving this momentum.

Under the witness of the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC), several key preliminary cooperation frameworks were established between international exchanges and Cambodia’s securities market. Notably, there is potential for international investors to directly purchase shares of companies listed in Cambodia under special arrangements. There is also the possibility of encouraging dual listings for leading Cambodian companies on both domestic and international exchanges.

Mr. Deng Zhenyue, Chief Executive Officer of Cambodia Securities, stated that the company’s main objective is to bring Cambodia’s representative industries and regionally competitive companies to the capital market. The focus will be on projects with strict unmet needs—projects that are currently difficult to address—aiming not only to offer investors significant growth opportunities but also to serve as a key foundation for Cambodia’s overall economic development. He expressed confidence that Cambodia’s capital market is preparing for a “golden decade,” supported by several factors:

  • Sustained GDP growth of over 7% over the past decade, with post-pandemic performance expected to be among the best globally.

  • Rising investment demand as GDP per capita reaches USD 2,000.

  • Improved tax policies.

  • One of the most open foreign investment policies, widespread use of the U.S. dollar, and no foreign exchange controls.

Furthermore, to continue promoting the internationalization of the securities market and enhancing the potential of Cambodia’s capital market, efforts are being made to explore overseas markets, actively promote Cambodia’s securities market to foreign investors, attract more foreign capital, and make the market more dynamic—positioning Cambodia as a financial hub in Southeast Asia.

At the launch ceremony of the Cambodia Securities Exchange, government and company representatives rang a golden bell, symbolizing the official opening and expectations for growth in Cambodia’s capital market.

The total value of agreements signed on the event day amounted to approximately USD 200 million. Ms. Wen, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cambodia Securities, expressed gratitude to international delegates, honored guests, industry veterans, and chamber representatives for their participation and guidance. She emphasized that on this occasion, the company signed Memorandums of Understanding with three financial institutions and finalized listings or bond-issuance agreements with six companies. These agreements represent key players in Cambodia’s industries and signal the beginning of the expansion of the nation’s capital market. Cambodia’s advantages—such as being the world’s second-largest U.S. dollar-based economy after the United States—support the expected growth and prosperity of its capital market. The company expects the market to experience exponential growth and favorable development conditions over the next five years.

Mr. Pan Junyou, General Managing Director of Cambodia Securities, stressed that the company will align with national economic policies and actively contribute to the development, planning, and regulation of Cambodia’s capital market. They will also facilitate effective connections with international capital markets and financial institutions to promote sustainable market growth. Cambodia Securities aims to become the largest investment bank in Cambodia by adhering to SERC’s guidelines and requirements, improving market liquidity, and attracting more market participants and foreign institutional investors.

Cambodia Securities, the first fully licensed securities company in Cambodia, aims to become the country’s leading investment bank.

More than 500 entrepreneurs and representatives from financial institutions attended the event.
